Making Disciples of Jesus Christ

Welcome to First Presbyterian Church Online

Thanks for clicking over to our website. We hope you find the information you need to help you find the church that's right for you.

First Presbyterian Church has been serving our community since 1883. But, the church is also characterized by a youthful enthusiasm. We're not afraid to take risks. We are a community of people from all walks of life, seeking personal and spiritual growth. We invite you to come, grow with us.

In a nutshell, we are about three things:

We are guided by Scripture. Here are two Bible verses that describe our mission well:

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark: 30-31)

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Mathew 28: 19-20)

Whether you live in the Petaluma area or beyond, we hope you will find resources to help you with your spiritual journey.

Come, visit us. We're on the Internet and in the Petaluma community for you.

Please join with us, Sundays, for a time of inspiration, celebration and spiritual refreshment. We now offer two choices:

Contemporary Celebration Service
Sundays at 9:00 AM
Classic Celebration Service
Sundays at 10:30 AM
We worship with sing-able, contemporary praise music. Don’t worry about looking “churchy.” Come early for coffee. Worship with our own blend of musical styles, drawn mostly from traditional worship.
Worship at 9
Worship at 10:30

Both services feature biblical messages that are personal and relevant to everyday life. (Hear a Sample Sermon from Pastor Dave Weidlich - mp3*). Our professionally-staffed Nursery and kid-friendly Sunday School are provided both hours.

Our Mission & Vision

Brief Church Mission Statement:
“First Presbyterian Church of Petaluma is a family of believers united by our love of Jesus Christ and a desire to be His disciples. We welcome all people, so that they may experience God’s love and grace in a Christ-centered community. Our relationship with God strengthens us and gives our lives purpose and direction.” (Adopted August, 2002)

Worship stands at the center of our ministry. We have a strong family orientation with an open, welcoming attitude toward all. We value Christian Education at all levels and look for growth of our Bible study classes, youth programs, weekly prayer and praise time, children’s ministry programs and VBS, Discipleship program and other adult programs.

Our congregation is a caring, loving body of Christians. We see strength in our children, youth and caring ministries. We yearn to grow in order to expand our excellent ministries and to bring them to the greater community.
